Air treatment equipment

Two columns with adsorbent material are crossed alternately compressed air.

While a column holds the moisture in compressed air for drying, regeneration occurs in the other.

The plant is almost always placed between two filters: one positioned upstream generally coalescing to purge air from the presence of oil and one downstream interception to block the presence of solid particles that may be conveyed by means of compressed air from the absorption material.

For a good drying there must be sufficient time between the happy air moist and absorbent material.

The contact time depends on the flow velocity and height of the absorbent material contained in the plant. Generally the height of the material is twice the diameter of the shell.

Smooth operation prevents the formation of eddies.In case of arrest since flow from bottom to top the water flows down to the bottom of the tank without overloading the absorbent material.

If the flow rate is below 10-15% of the nominal flow paths are created instead of preferential intent.

At the start of the regeneration step of de-pressurization (top down) will not cause swirls but only upon pressure, but on the contrary there may be of whirlwinds that mechanical stress the absorbent material by reducing the life time.

Depending on the regeneration method applied to distinguish different types of dryers:
- heatless;
- hot regeneration;
- heat of compression.
